The hamlet
What is Borgo Lucignanello exactly?
Borgo Lucignanello is the collective name for a group of self catering apartments in the hamlet of Lucignano d'Asso, located in the commune of San Giovanni d'Asso.
Is Lucignano d'Asso privately owned ?
No, it is a group of privately owned buildings traversed by a state road.
Are there any shops in the village?
There is one small shop in Lucignano d'Asso which sells a little bit of everything: typical Tuscan foodstuffs, groceries, personal hygiene items and detergents. Next to the shop, there is a wine bar which serves wine and platters of cold meats and cheeses. The shop is closed on Monday.
Is there always a member of staff present at Borgo Lucignanello?
Our receptionists work normal daytime office hours. A warden is on call during the night.
Is there a swimming pool?
Yes, there is a infinity swimming pool, for exclusive use by guests staying at Borgo Lucignanello, which is open from May to October (weather permitting).
Is there a restaurant in the hamlet?
For a light snack, the wine bar serves a small selection of cold dishes (cold meats, cheese etc.). the nearest restaurant is situated 4kms away, in San Giovanni d'Asso. When you arrive, you will be given a complete list of the restaurants in the area and staff will be happy to suggest the most suitable. Alternatively, you can request the services of a private chef who will deliver meals direct to your door or come and cook them for you in the kitchen of your apartment.
Where can I have breakfast?
You can make your own breakfast in your apartment or order it to be delivered at the time of your choice.
What are the check-in and check-out times?
You can check-in from 15.00hrs. If you think you are likely to arrive after 18.00hrs or are delayed, please let us know. Check-out is at 10.00, late check-outs should be requested at reception.
Where is the closest supermarket?
The closest supermarket is situated in Torrenieri (open from 08:30 to 13:00 and from 16:30 to 19:00, Monday to Saturday).
The apartments
What is provided in each apartment?
In your apartment you'll find bed and bath linen and a full range of cooking utensils. You'll also find a supply of basic provisions (bread, sugar, salt etc), a liter of our highly acclaimed organic olive oil, two bottles of wine, and breakfast items (especially useful should guests arrive at the Borgo outside shop opening times). What is more, if you send us a shopping list a few days before your arrival date, we will purchase* any additional groceries you require and deliver them direct to your apartment. (*you will be charged for additional groceries)
Do the apartments have a washing machine?
No, only Casale Sarageto has its own washing machine. A laundry service and additional linen changes are available on request.
Can I order lunch or dinner?
For lunch and dinner, you can request the services of a private cook who will either deliver meals to your door or cook them directly in the kitchen of your apartment.
Do the apartments have air conditioning? And what about heating?
All apartments are fitted with ceiling fans. The master bedroom in the Sarageto framhouse is equipped with air conditioning. Heating is provided in all rooms and each house has its own traditional wood burning fireplace, ready to be lit.
Surroundings
Can I explore the surroundings using public transport?
No, unfortunately the hamlet is not served by public transport. The area is, therefore, best explored by car. If you prefer not to drive, we will be happy to organize a car with driver for you (always a good option if you plan to visit the local wineries or have a meal in one of the restaurants in the area).
How far away are the nearest restaurants?
The nearest restaurants are a 5-10 minute car ride away (in the towns of Torrenieri and San Giovanni d'Asso). Both Montalcino and Pienza, about 20 minutes from Borgo Lucignanello, have a much larger choice of eateries. In your apartment you'll find a list of our favorite restaurants. Are there any markets in the area?
In the province of Siena there are a number of weekly markets, open from 08.00 to 13.00.
